Help Support the Joplin Association for the Blind
Enjoy a Delicious Spaghetti Red Dinner!
Dear Friend,
I’m so excited to share the first issue of the Joplin Association for the Blind newsletter!
Not only do we provide for the physical and medical needs of individuals with low vision and blindness but we also care for the social needs. We do this through providing low vision evaluations, loaning assistive devices such as CCTVs, assisting with costs for eye exams and glasses, providing shuttle service to and from eye appointments, as well as hosting social events for the community. Our name references Joplin, MO but we serve clients of all ages within an 80-mile radius that includes the four-state area of Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma.
When I started volunteering, I didn’t realize the breadth and depth of services we offer clients; nor did I realize what an impact we had. I’ve heard many stories ranging from helping a young student get glasses to driving a gentleman back and forth for his cataract surgery 60 miles away to hosting a weekly lunch and social event for the blind and low vision community.
While we continue to expand our resources and facilities to serve the blind and low vision community, we could not do this without our volunteers and donors. To support our cause, we hope you join us April 13th between 11 am and 7 pm to grab a plate of spaghetti red or a bowl of veggie soup, plus desserts and beverages, as well as bid in our silent auction! Both dine in and carry out options will be available.
Special thanks to the Masonic Lodge of Joplin and Food4Less for their generous support!
